Our Franeker plant is located in a special place, near the Wadden Sea and in the same town the Eise Eisinga Planetarium, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This reminds us daily of the importance of conservation and sustainability. At Oostwoud, we take that responsibility seriously. We work energy efficiently, minimize waste and recycle materials. Our transportation is efficiently designed to reduce carbon emissions, and we encourage environmentally friendly vehicles.

Sustainability Central
At Oostwoud, we believe in a circular future. Using recycled steel as the basis of our products, we minimize our impact on the environment. We also develop reusable products that can easily be renewed, upgraded or repaired. Old lockers get a second life with us: we replace outdated locks, repaint lockers or upgrade them to modern standards so that they meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

Durability Powder Coating
Efficient, Environmentally Friendly and Future-proof. Everything we produce at our plant is "tightly painted" Nay, they are powder coated. This is a lot more environmentally friendly than using a wet-coat system. In addition, we collect the residual powder coat used to spray paint the lockers in the desired color. We reuse this powder (residual waste) on parts of lockers that are not visible, thus preventing unnecessary waste and making the most of the powder coating. Powder coating is not only an environmentally conscious choice, but also provides optimal protection for lockers. It makes them resistant to scratches and external influences, such as moisture, which can lead to corrosion (rusting). This will significantly increase the lifespan of our products, contributing to sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
Upcycle Lockers
By upcycling lockers, you give them a second life and actively contribute to circularity. Instead of replacing, we reuse existing materials, saving resources and minimizing waste. This promotes a more sustainable future and helps your organization achieve environmental goals without compromising on efficiency and functionality. We can re-powdercoat your lockers and equip them with modern, smart technologies. Consider upgrading from a traditional key lock to an electronic lock. Thanks to high quality, in many cases our lockers last more than 40 years!
Internal Transport
Oostwoud strives for maximum transport efficiency by transporting supplies flat-packed as much as possible. This prevents unnecessary empty space and minimizes the number of transport movements. In addition, deliveries are cleverly combined, resulting in more efficient driving and reduced CO₂ emissions. Our transporters are encouraged to use environmentally friendly vehicles, such as electric or hybrid models. An important example of our efficient logistics is the transportation of cabinets in parts on Europallets. This allows 126.7% more to fit in a trailer than fully assembled cabinets, which equates to 76 more cabinets per trip. This contributes significantly to more sustainable and efficient transport.
